Attachments and Embellishments

Term:
Winter/Spring 2010

There are many ways to enhance handbuilt or thrown pots. In this class, we’ll cover a few: carving, stamping, sprigging, the addition of legs and knobs, and wax resist techniques for glazing. We will discuss planning and design, and go over our results as a group so we can all learn from each others’ successes and challenges. This class is appropriate for many skill levels, from beginning to experienced.

Anna builds small, obsessively detailed things out of terra cotta with her hands. She has a BFA from RISD and has studied ceramics at Mudflat in Somerville, UMass Dartmouth, and Dew Claw Studios in Providence. Her work can be seen at smallcraftadvisory.org.
